WESTERN UNITED FC INVITES YOU TO JOIN WITH US AND TOGETHER BE PART OF SPORTING HISTORY
For our first ever home match at GMHBA stadium on Saturday 19 October, we would like to extend an invitation to all junior players (and coaches) from Geelong Football Clubs to participate in an exciting pre-match celebration and then watch the match as part of the Western United football family.

We would like to invite all your junior players, kitted out in your club’s gear, to participate in an “Olympic opening ceremony” type walk around the perimeter of the pitch in front of the crowd just before the commencement of the match.

The event will be accompanied by celebratory music, commentated by the ground announcer Geelong’s own Tom King, displayed on the two big screens at the ground and broadcast live, at times, on Foxtel and the ABC. Each participating junior player and club coach will receive a free match ticket to participate in the march and then watch the match. The parade will be promoted in the Geelong Advertiser, on K-Rock and Bay FM radio stations and on our social media platforms in the week leading up to the match.

Each club is invited to bring along their club banners, flags , etc to showcase their club during the parade and make it an unforgettable fun event and day. This is a chance for the kids to say, “I was there from the beginning” and grow up with the Western United FC.

Noting that FFA allows banners up to 1m x 1m and flag poles must be from plastic or wood and no greater than 1.5 metres in length.

The walk will start at 4.15-4.30pm so all participants will be required to be at the stadium by no later than 3.45pm outside gate 5. Match day tickets will be handed out on arrival.

This initiative will be a way that we can proudly celebrate football in the Geelong and greater region, and showcase our family to the broader sporting market, and simply let the kids have an unforgettable experience being part of the historic day.

On behalf of the entire Club, I’m looking forward to your club being part of this important and historic day.

If you can please provide me with an estimated number of players and coaches that will attend from your club. We will then arrange to meet up outside of Gate 5 no later than 3.45pm. I will continue to be in touch during the week to arrange any further logistics.

Should you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me.
