Return to Play

27 Jul 2021 by Duncan Ferris

Football Victoria (FV) is thrilled that the Victorian Government’s announcement today paves the way for a return to community sport for Victoria.

FV notes the following key changes, effective from 11.59pm July 27, subject to the release of FV’s RTP/RTT Conditions:
Outdoor football matches can return for players of all ages
Futsal/indoor football can return, subject to density limits for indoor venues
No spectators permitted – numbers strictly limited to the minimum number required to facilitate the activity, including coaches, required support staff and one parent per junior participant
FV is actively seeking further detail in relation to the above, including overall facility caps, and awaits the release of Restricted Activity Directions by the Victorian Government, to complete our Return To Play Conditions.

FV will update our Conditions as quickly as possible upon receipt of this information, to ensure all Clubs and Associations have clarity ahead of this weekend. Please note: Clubs must not return to training/play until FV’s Return To Play Conditions are released.

FV encourages all Clubs and Associations to commence planning while awaiting these conditions, including sourcing written approval from the landowner (e.g. Council) before training/competition commences. Those Clubs who have teams participating in competitions administered by a Regional Association, should liaise directly with their member Association.

Our competitions team continues to plan for a return to competition football this weekend for all age groups and will provide an update to Clubs shortly.
We thank all Clubs and Associations for your ongoing hard work and patience, as together we navigate each phase of the state government’s restrictions.

Sincerely yours in football,

Kimon Taliadoros
CEO, Football Victoria
